Nocturia

Category Nocturia

Nocturia (Prolonged urination at night) is a medical term specifically for excessive urination at night and during sleep. This is a medical condition and a symptom of any of the multiple urinary disease types. It is a secondary bedwetting condition characterized by accidental urine loss and is frequent in the elderly. Bedwetting is prevalent in children aged 0 to about 4. A baby bladder reaches maturity by the time the infant is trained potty, usually at 5 years old. Although every child's bladder matures at different ages, by the time they reach 6 years of age, children generally stop bedwetting. If a child unexpectedly begins bedwetting again after being dry for a long time then parents will start to worry.
